The Keren Chessed was established in the 1990's to help needy families in Ramot Bet, Jerusalem. Since then, we have been helping needy families to obtain their most basic and urgent needs. We now help around 100 families a year.

Every shekel goes directly to those in need.

how we help

Food Vouchers

Eight times a year, around 100 families in our community receive vouchers for essential food items that help them feed their families with dignity. They can choose the food they need and use the vouchers discreetly at local supermarkets. Over the last three years, we have distributed over 800,000 shekels in food vouchers.

Rental Assistance

The Keren Chessed helps to ensure that needy families continue to have a roof over their heads. Over the last three years, we spent 146,000 shekels helping these families with rent and basic living expenses.

Utility Bills

Some of our families are unable to pay their utility bills and worry that their electricity, gas, and water will be shut off. Because the Keren Chessed helps to pay these bills, these families can sleep at night knowing that they have one less problem to worry about.

How we operate:

Families are referred to us by local welfare services, community leaders, Rabbanim, and community members. Each family that receives help from the Keren Chessed is carefully and discreetly interviewed, to ensure that the need is real. We carefully evaluate their case and determine how we can help them in the most dignified way.

The Keren Chessed is run entirely by volunteers. We operate with no overhead. All funds donated to the Keren Chessed go directly to impact those in greatest need.

With your help, we can make a difference in Ramot Bet.

Medicine and Medical Expenses

Sometimes, even the hardest-working individuals fall on hard times with unexpected medical bills. We help them cover these costs so that they can get their medications and the medical and dental care that they need.
